Rachael N. Martinez, PhD
Dr. Martinez is a Research Health Scientist at the Center of Innovation for Complex Chronic Healthcare. She received her doctoral degree in Applied Social Psychology at Loyola University Chicago in 2013, and her bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Michigan in 2008. Her primary research interests include team science and implementation of health information technology to improve patient-centered care. She has served as a co-investigator on several projects including examination of the implementation of clinical video telehealth for Veterans with neurological disorders, impact of My HealtheVet on healthcare utilization and costs, and dual use of VA and non-VA health care after the Affordable Care Act. She served as co-Pi on a project evaluating the roll-out of environmental control units at the bedside of patients with SCI/D in VA SCI Centers across the nation, and is currently the Hines site PI for the eHealth Partnered Evaluation Initiative, which aims to understand how best to further the implementation of patient-provider technologies across the VA. In addition to research, Dr. Martinez has taught graduate and undergraduate courses at Loyola University Chicago, and past teaching honors include the Johnson Graduate-Student Award for Teaching Excellence in Psychology and the Graduate Student Excellence in Teaching Award.
