Dr. Lederer

Dr. Lederer recently completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at Jesse Brown VA Medical Center and Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital. She is an Assistant Professor in the Section of Nephrology at the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System (UIHHSS). Swati continues to pursue VA research with her mentors, Drs. Michael Fischer and Elisa Gordon, examining patient-provider communication, health literacy, and self-care practices among patients with chronic and end-stage kidney disease. This research has the potential to generate a better understanding of patient care practices and to inform interventions that are needed to improve long-term outcomes in patients with kidney disease. She is a graduate of the Michigan State University College of Medicine and completed her Internal Medicine Residency and Nephrology Fellowship at UIHHSS.
