Current Positions: Health Research Scientist, Center for Management of Complex Chronic Care, Edward Hines VA Hospital, Hines, IL; Research Assistant Professor, Institute for Healthcare Studies, Northwestern University, Chicago, IL.

Research Interests: Organizational behavior, long-term care and utilization of health care services, including community care, assisted living and nursing home care.

Current Projects:

(1) Self-management to prevent pressure ulcers in veterans with spinal cord injury: The purpose of this project is to identify strategies to help veterans with SCI prevent pressure ulcer recurrence and/or promote early detection and reporting.

(2) Biophysical measure to predict pressure ulcers in spinal cord injured: The purpose of this study is to determine whether a biophysical measure that measures sub-epidermal moisture is effective in identifying and predicting erythema and stage I PrUs in veterans with SCI.

(3) Developing a home telehealth program to manage pressure ulcers in spinal cord injury and disorders (SCI/D): The purpose of this project is to complete activities necessary in preparation for implementing a Home Telehealth program to manage veterans with SCI/D at risk of developing pressure ulcers.
